Christmas At Carriage Hill: A Swift River Valley Original eNovella by Carla Neggers

Celebrate the holidays with this magical Swift River Valley novella

When fashion designer Alexandra Rankin Hunt is asked to create the dresses for Olivia Frost’s Christmas wedding in tiny Knights Bridge, Massachusetts, she jumps at the chance. She’s certain she’ll never get to design one for herself—not with her history of falling for the wrong men. Ian Mabry, the sexy fighter pilot whose bravery reminded her of her beloved great-grandfather, was the worst yet.

To Alexandra’s surprise, Ian is also at Carriage Hill, Olivia’s picturesque country inn. And if anyone can charm his way into a wedding, it’s him. Ian wants more than an invitation—he’s determined to find a way back into Alexandra’s life.

I am so in love with the Swift River Valley series and the new e-novella, Christmas At Carriage Hill, was just as endearing as the previous three full-length books.

It truly was a feel good type of romance where the hero, Ian Mabry, won back the heart of the lady, Alexandra Hunt, he loved.

Ian’s a military man, he’s a RAF Wing Commander just like Alexandra’s great-grandfather, and it frightens her knowing that her great-grandfather died during WWII. She also fears that Ian only wanted the London fashion designer he could show off not the woman who moved to the village in the Cotswold’s he grew up in.

Although Ian is not ready to give up on Alexandra and follows her from England to Knights Bridge, Massachusetts, where she is attending her cousin Dylan’s wedding and designing Olivia’s gown.

I loved Ian and Alexandra’s story, but sadly, it was way too short. I would have liked to have seen more of Ian, he was such as a strong yet sentimental hero. I would have loved to have seen his character developed a bit more. The same could be said about their relationship. I would have liked to have seen more about the beginning of their relationship and how it transformed, not just their HEA.

Fans of the series will be delight that this novella touched bases, albeit weakly, with the other characters from the previous books. And if this is a new-to-you series, I strongly advise you start at the beginning as you’ll feel a little lost diving headfirst into this one.

While this was a Christmas romance, it wasn’t overly Christmassy. Just think New England in the winter and it describes the setting brilliantly.

Overall, it was a charming little romance that made a lovely addition to the Swift River Valley series. Plus this lovely little e-novella contained a few recipes I’m dying to try out.
