Dr. Jake Travers has his hands full. He’s survived a horrific accident that left the mother of his newly discovered daughter, Brooke, dead. Not only is he injured, he has to deal with a four-year-old he never knew and the adjust of becoming an instant father. At first, Jake’s a bit resistant when his sister-in-law Milly shows up at his door offering to help out, although soon he finds that both he and his daughter are falling for her.

 

I’m a bit on the fence about this one. I liked it. It was a cute story that had heart wrenching moments mixed in with funny ones. Although for such a short story (216 pages), there were a lot of secondary characters taking up page time. While neither the romance nor the story between the Millie and Jake suffered, I would have liked to have seen more of them together given how short the book was.

 

Both Jake and Millie are dealing with problems their parents instilled in them. Millie has some self-worth issues that she needs to face and Jake has to overcome his alcoholic father saying he was going to turn out like him. I really enjoyed the way they worked out their issues together. I also like the way Millie helped Jake’s relationship with his daughter evolve.

 

While the chemistry between Jake and Millie waxed and waned, they were a perfect fit when they were together.

 

So, this is the third book in the Crimson, Colorado series and while I had no trouble keeping up with what was going on, I would have liked to have known more about Millie’s relationship with her sister.

 

Overall, I liked the book. It was one of those cute little books that you can read in a few hours. I felt the ending was a little rushed but I am still eager to read the previous books in this series.
