His Touch was such a sweet romance that had its weighty moments. I really was rooting for Reid and Kara to get it together and stop fighting their attraction.

 

Single mother Kara Larsen has done her best to care for her young daughter and keep her safe, although when she loses her daughter in a department store and a handsome paramedic finds her little girl, Reid confirms Kara’s fear of being a horrible mother. Yet there’s something striking about this man and Kara can’t seem to get him out of her mind. When he’s the first responder to her 911 call when Nadia, her daughter, has breathing trouble, she doesn’t want to let him go.

 

Reid Bennett has made it his goal in life to help parents avoid tragedy that could have been prevented if the parents paid more attention to their children, so when he finds a baby wondering a department store alone and her mother playing on her phone, Reid’s fear causes him to react poorly. He knows he should avoid the two of them although Kara needs his help and soon he finds himself falling for both Kara and her daughter.

 

While Reid has no intention of falling head-over-heels for a woman and her child, he discovers he’s doing just that until potentially earth-shattering news lands in their lap. Now Reid has to decide if loving Kara and her daughter is worth the risk of losing another person he cared about.

 

I loved His Touch. I could not put it down. It’s the first in the Summer in New York series but it’s also a spin off from the Christmas in New York series, although I haven’t read the first series and thankfully I didn’t feel left out.

 

Kara and Reid are both grieving. They both lost people that they cared deeply about—Kara her mother and Reid his daughter—and it has affected the way they’re living their lives. Kara is also struggling with raising a child on her own without the help of a mother to guide her. I really liked that Reid was willing to step in and show Kara how to become a better parent. While Kara is stubborn, she knows that Reid’s right and eventually stopped fighting him and started taking his advice.

 

Reid has been fighting his attraction to Kara because he doesn’t want to date a woman with a kid and he doesn’t do long-term commitment anymore, yet he knows that he’s a goner when he meets Kara. And while he tried to fight it, he eventually went with the flow and allowed himself to fall in love with both of them.

 

The conflict in the story comes from a health scare with Nadia. It makes both Kara and Reid reevaluate things and Reid isn’t sure he can risk losing another person. While he steps up and makes sure Kara gets the answers she needs, he starts to pull away from both of them.

 

Overall, I enjoyed this one. The characters had amazing chemistry and the plot flowed brilliantly.

 

His Touch was sweet and while there were some serious points, it was still a feel good read that had me smiling. It made for a perfect weekend read and I was so glad that Kara was able to help Reid heal. The only problem with this was one was that it seemed a little short. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, I just would have liked to have seen more of their story.
