Single Wolf Female: A Midnight Liaisons Novella by Jessica Sims

Alice Savage needs an alpha – any alpha – to prevent her pack from being usurped by the lecherous Roscoe. As a last resort, she signs up for the Midnight Liaisons dating service, never expecting that she’d find the alpha she seeks. She certainly didn’t expect Jackson Wilder, a laid back, sexy-as-sin outsider who claims to be an alpha.

But Alice has a problem that most female wolf alphas don’t — she’s a virgin. And the female alpha of a wolf pack always belongs to a male alpha. Luckily for her, Jackson’s utterly gorgeous and willing to take things slow. But is he alpha enough to help her save her pack…or is he too easy-going to be the man she needs?

This is a novella in the Midnight Liaisons shifter series and can be read as a stand alone!

There were certain things expected of a werewolf alpha female: take care of the pack, exert leadership, change to wolf form with ease. Appease the alpha male. Dominate the females of the pack.

Filling out a dating profile for lonely women? Not on the list. Not even close.

To make matters worse, I was embarrassingly bad at filling out the profile. I chewed on the end of my pen-cap with vigor as I re-read the line of questions on the form, loathing the process with every fiber in my wolf-being. –Single Wolf Female Chapter 1

With a start like that, how can you not devour the book?

Alice Savage is using Midnight Liaisons (a paranormal dating service) in hopes of finding an alpha. Given that Roscoe, creep extraordinaire, is after Alice to claim her and her pack, any alpha will do.  She never expected Jackson Wilder, a laid back wolf, would be the alpha for her.

I liked Alice. She was the alpha female of her pack although she wasn’t the alpha’s mate but rather his sister. Not only is she is dealing with her brother’s death, she has to keep the pack safe, and to top it off, she’s a virgin, which makes her encounters with Jackson a little awkward.

Jackson was a different type of alpha for me. Normally, when reading shifter romances, the alphas are a bit in your face, although Jackson was laid back yet authoritative. It was a nice change to see an alpha wrote this way. He is also in need of a pack so he understands what Alice is going through.

The novella was short (I would have liked to seen a bit more of the characters) but the sizzling chemistry made up for it.

I read Single Wolf Female in one sitting. It would be perfect for an autumn day. Fix yourself a hot cuppa tea or warm apple cider and sit back and enjoy this lovely werewolf romance.

Favorite Quote:

“He’s going to challenge you. He wants to be alpha.”

“And…you don’t want him to be alpha?”

I gave him a look. “You either have it or you don’t. Len doesn’t have it.”

“True enough,” he said with a chuckle. “I was just wondering if maybe he wasn’t to your liking.”

I snorted. “You think if Len had even half a shot of being alpha, I’d have put out a classified ad on my ass saying, ‘Free to a good home’?”

Again, his mouth twitched at my sour humor. “Guess not. So watch out for Len. Got it.”

Series Alert:
This novella, Single Female Wolf, is book 2.6 in the Midnight Liaison series, although having only read book 1 in the series at the time of reading this novella, I can say it reads brilliantly as a standalone.

Overall, I loved this book. It was a tasty little tidbit of how hot, brilliant, and funny the Midnight Liaison series is. Plus, just look at the lush cover!

  1. This is one series I keep meaning to start. I've read her as Jill Myles and loved it :) It was too short too (gah I would have loved a full length) but so good :)

  2. I couldn't seem to get into her books published under Jill Myles. The Midnight Liaisons series is amazing. Although the novella was way too short. Right when she hooks you in, it's over.
