Wanted: Wild Thing by Jessica Sims

Ryder Sinclair is the office flirt at Midnight Liaisons. She’s cute, blonde, and bubbly…until she touches a man then her changeling takes over and out pops dragon lady. To make matters worse, a Fae Prince has come to use her as a broodmare and to ensure she remains a virgin until her 25 birthday he has brought a bodyguard, Hugh, to make she stays pure. However, there’s no denying that Ryder is attracted to Hugh.

Wanted: Wild Thing is the last book in the Midnight Liaisons series and, I have to admit, I’m a bit sad to see this series end.

This book was definitely different from the previous books in the series. Rather than dealing with were-cougars and werewolves, Ryder is a changeling who sort of morphs into this dragon-type creature when she’s aroused. Hugh—or I should rather called him ‘huge’ as he seems to be exceedingly large—is a Primordial Shifter (I’m not going tell you what kind of shifter, you’ll have to read the book and discover it on your own).

I liked the concept of the book. Hugh was sent to ensure Ryder stayed chaste yet they are attracted to each other but he doesn’t want to break the vow he made with the Fae Prince. It allowed for some amazing sexual tension.

Hugh was an interesting character. Very different from the heroes in the series. I enjoyed watching him adapt to the modern world. Also, I found it exceedingly funny that Ryder had him to watch pornos for sex ed.

While I liked Ryder, she was an odd character who liked to wear pink everything, pigtails, and glittery lipstick. Overly bubbly to compensate for the fact she sprouted scales and horns yet she’s vulnerable. A Fae Prince is after her because she’s a changeling and apparently a very high-priced breeding machine when she’s she goes into heat. And while she’s the office flirt, she has never been held or kissed by a man because it brings out her inner beastie making her relationship Hugh that much sweeter.

The plot pacing waxed and waned a bit, but it was still enjoyable. Although it wasn’t on the same level as the previous books I read. It may have been because the whole Fae world in a new avenue to me, but it definitely caught my attention and held it.

While I’m not going to say what type of sifter Hugh is, I will say I figured it out fairly early on and was rather surprised that it took Ryder so long to figure it out.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Jessica Sims brilliantly created another world that I was eager to read about and kudos for thinking outside the shifter box.

Series Alert: While Wanted: Wild Thing is the fourth book in the Midnight Liaisons series, it read mostly as a standalone. Although I haven’t read, Desperately Seeking Shapershifter, I think I need to as it would clear up the confusion about Savannah.
