Cherry Lane by Rochelle Alers

A place to call home . . .

In New York City, attorney Devon Gilmore devoted all her time and energy to fast-track her career. She lost her boyfriend . . . but found herself with a surprise baby on the way. To begin a new life, Devon needs a place to settle down-a place like Cavanaugh Island, where the pace is slow, the weather is fine, and the men are even finer.

From the moment David Sullivan meets Devon, he knows he can't fight the laws of attraction. Whether it's helping fix up the old cottage she just bought on Cherry Lane or working together on a pro bono legal case, he can't help feeling a little protective. But will the most eligible bachelor in town be ready for an instant family? Only if he can convince Devon to put her heart on the line one more time-for all time.

I tried. I really, really tried to get into this book but I couldn’t seem to make it past chapter five. I don’t know if it was because this is the fifth book in a series I haven’t read or what but I couldn’t seem to connect with the characters or the plot. It felt slow and draggy and I just couldn’t seem to get focused on the book.

  1. Sorry to hear you didnt like it:( That always sucks when this happens. The blurb sounds interesting but I imagine if you havent read the others you dont feel the same investment to know what will happen.

  2. I honestly thought I was going to love this one, but I just couldn't get into it. If I would have read the others then maybe I would have forced myself to finish this one but I wasn't invested in the series so I just put it down.

  3. Ya know, even if you had read the series, this book just sounds kinda boring. You'd probably put it down anyway. I dont know about yuo, but long lulls in books just destroy them for me. I need constant pace, lol.

  4. I don't mind if the pacing ebbs and flows according to the scenes, although this one just felt stilted from the start.
