Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates

A one-time bad girl comes home to small-town Oregon in the first in a sexy, heartfelt new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Maisey Yates

Sadie Miller isn't expecting any welcome-home parades on her return to Copper Ridge. Least of all from part-time rancher, full-time lawman Eli Garrett. The straight-laced, impossibly hot deputy sheriff glares at her like she's the same teenage hoodlum who fled town ten years ago. But running from her demons has brought Sadie full circle, ready to make a commitment at last. Not to a man, but to a B and B. On Garrett land. Okay, so her plan has a tiny flaw…

Eli works too hard to let a blonde ball of trouble mess up his town. But keeping an eye on Sadie makes it tough to keep his hands off her. And if she's so wrong for him, why does being with her feel so right?
Title: Part Time Cowboy | Series: Copper Ridge #1 | Author: Maisey Yates | Publisher: HQN | Release Date: March 31, 2015| Genre: Contemporary Romance | Source: Publisher | Rating: 5 Cups

Wow! Just Wow—nope, not just WOW but a 5-Cup-I-can’t-wait-to-read-it-again-I-will-tell-random-book-shoppers-they-MUST-buy-this-book-WOW! Sadie and Eli’s dialogue was some of the best that I’ve ever read! And their chemistry was so hot you needed a fire extinguisher.

So, here’s what’s going on. Sadie Miller left her hometown of Copper Ridge, Oregon ten years ago and never looked back. Working as a crisis counselor, she’s had the freedom to move wherever the wind blew her. Although when she spots an online ad to rent a property in her hometown that would be perfect for a bed-and-breakfast, Sadie jumps at the chance and finds herself signing a five-year lease. The only problem with her plan is that the house she’s leasing is on the Garrett’s ranch, which means she’s going to run into Eli Garrett, the man who arrested her when she was a troubled eighteen year old.

Part-time cowboy and full-time deputy sheriff, Eli Garrett has never forgotten his first…arrest, that is. Although when she rolls back into town and he discovers his older brother has leased her The Catalog House, he’s more than a little perturbed, especially when he discovers how attracted he is to her. But she’s chaos with blonde hair that his neat, organized world doesn’t need but his body wants her and soon he discovers their connection is much deeper than sex.

I loved Eli. He was neat, organized, and a bit of —okay, a complete— clean freak, and always has to have a plan. I like a guy with a plan, so it was no wonder that I gelled with Eli. Although the guy does frown quite a bit and can be a bit of grump, but it so works for him.

After his mother left, he was the one that kept the Garrett family together. He had to grow up and make sure everything was neat and tidy. Because of this, he’s turned into a bit of a control freak, which is completely understandable. Although it’s also left him with a bit of an I-have-to-save-everybody complex, so rather than focusing on his life, he’s more content taking care of those around him.

I was really impressed with Sadie. She’s one of my favorite heroines that I’ve read this year. She has some issues that she needs to work out and rather than focusing on them, she’s been deflecting and running for the last ten years, although The Catalogue House is her chance to return and face her issues head on.

I loved the way that Eli never got the sexual innuendos that Sadie throws out and their one-liners so had me laughing out loud so many times, I think the post man thought I’d lost my mind.

The chemistry between Eli and Sadie was off the charts. He’s the first man she wants to open up to. She’s the first woman who pulls him out of his neat, organized little world and that rattles him a bit. So, I was never sure if they were going kiss each other or kill each other and I’m not sure if they knew what they were going to do either.

I have to say the sex scenes were amazing and steamy and totally lip-biting-worthy. The way they never backed down from each other, I was completely expecting their first sex scene to be akin to the one from the Dark Shadows movie, while it wasn’t as destructive as that was it was just as strong.

This is the first full-length novel in her Copper Ridge series and it completely hooked me by offering a more than just a glimpse of the Garrett siblings. Now I need to know more.

Overall, this book was amazing. I could not put it down. It was one of the best ones that I’ve read this year. Both Eli and Sadie were damaged by their pasts and they needed each other to be able to put their pasts behind them and move on.

There were funny moments and heartfelt, soul-shattering moments that truly brought these realistically flawed characters to life and made me fall in love with Eli and Sadie. I mean, come on, Sadie bought and planted Eli an apology azalea, how could I not love it.

Maisey Yates is becoming one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to read more about the Garrets and the town of Copper Ridge.  In fact, I loved this book so much, I purchased the novella before I even had chapter two read.
