Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis

RESCUE ME

Cedar Ridge, Colorado, is famous for crisp mountain air, clear blue skies, and pine-scented breezes. And it's the last place Lily Danville wants to be. But she needs a job, and there's an opening at the hottest resort in her hometown. What has her concerned is the other hot property in Cedar Ridge: Aidan Kincaid-firefighter, rescue worker, and heartbreaker. She never could resist that devastating smile . . .

The Kincaid brothers are as rough and rugged as the Rocky Mountains they call home. Aidan has always done things his own way, by his own rules. And never has he regretted anything more than letting Lily walk out of his life ten years ago. If anyone has ever been in need of rescuing, she has. What she needs more than anything are long hikes, slow dances, and sizzling kisses. But that can only happen if he can get her to give Cedar Ridge-and this bad boy-a second chance . . .
Title: Second Chance Summer | Series: A Cedar Ridge Novel Book 1 | Author: Jill Shalvis | Publisher: Forever | Release Date: June 30, 2015 | Genre:  Contemporary Romance | Source: Publisher | Rating: 4.5

Rescue Me completely gave me the warm and fuzzies. Lily and Aidan have to be one of the cutest couples ever.

Lily and Aidan were verging on a relationship until tragedy struck and she left town. Now Lily’s in desperate need of a job and has returned to work in a salon that’s part of the resort Aidan and his family own. Unable to avoid each other, they soon realize that what they once had is still there.

I could not put this book down. I devoured it in less than two hours.

Lily has a lot to overcome—I won’t say what, but it’s actually rather weighty and really messes with her head when it comes to her relationship with Aidan. I really liked Lily. She’s been through a lot and now she’s back in town facing her demons.

Is there a place I can sign up for a guy that’s as yummy as Aidan Kincaid? He was such an amazing hero. Strong, steady, not afraid to go after what he wants even though he’s nursing a strong hurt because she walked out of his life without so much as a goodbye. He’s also the glue that holds his family together, and I love a hero like that.

I’m always a sucker for a second chance/reunion story and I was so glad to see that this one was a bit slower on the romance. It allowed the chemistry to grow as Lily and Aidan rediscovered who they had become.

Another thing I loved about Rescue Me was the fact the secondary characters were just as engaging as the main characters. I want—no, I have to know what happens with the Kincaid siblings. Also, I’m itching to know what Grey and Penny’s story is. They’re already established in this book as happily married, but I want to know more. Plus, it sounds like Penny has a really kick arse job.

Overall, I loved this book. I find myself wanting to read it again. The characters were amazing, the plot engaging, and I can totally relate to Lily’s bunny incident.

I cannot wait to see what unfolds for the Kincaid’s as this series continues.

So, lovelies, what's your favorite Shalvis read?

  1. I just love Jill Shalvis. I enjoyed this one, too, and I am really excited to see where the series goes. But my favorites are some of the Lucky Harbor books.
