Dragon's Lair by Chantal Fernando

When Faye discovers her boyfriend in bed with another woman, she does something incredibly stupid: she sleeps with his brother, Dexter Black. He’s the boy next door who grew up to be one sexy biker dude, pure alpha male to the core. A tattooed muscle-bound fantasy in the flesh, Dex is now vice president of the notorious Wind Dragons MC. And now Faye’s really screwed…She’s a law student with a future. He’s a criminal with a past. She’s a good girl from a strict family. He’s a bad boy biker who breaks all the rules. But once Faye straddles the back of Dex’s bike—and experiences the thrill of the open road, the rush of lust—there’s no turning back. This good girl and her hot-blooded biker are in for the ride of their lives…

Title: Dragon's Lair | Series: Wind Dragons MC #1 | Author: Chantal Fernando | Publisher: Gallery Books | Genre: Contemporary MC Romance | Source: Publisher | Rating: 4.5

I had a hard time putting this book down and ended up finishing it at around 3 in the morning but the lack of sleep was so worth it.

So, here’s the yumminess that’s going on. Good girl Faye walks in on her boyfriend shagging another woman so she puts on her black romper (without her parent-approved cardigan), heads to a bar, and ends up taking a walk on the wild side with Dexter Black who happens to be her ex’s brother as well as the guy Faye has always crushed on. She receives a parting gift from their encounter and Dex is determined not to let Faye raise his child on her own. So, she enters the world of the Wind Dragon, a group of bad boy bikers whose v.p. just happens to be Dex.

This was book was so different from what I normally read but I’m so glad that I’ve discovered the world of MC reads and the Wind Dragons MC Series in particular.

Faye’s been raised by a controlling mother, so when she gets a chance to act on her fantasies for the bad boy next door, she takes it. Yet she never realized that her one wild night would lead her into the dangerous world of the Wind Dragons.

At the start of the book, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Faye. She was fleeing from Dex because she was pregnant and didn’t want him to know because she discovered he was the V.P. of a motorcycle club. Although once she realizes that to her Dex will always be the Dex she grew up with, she knows that he will be a good father.

I actually ended up really liking Faye. She’s completely out of her element when she moves in to the Wind Dragon compound—and most of the things she sees shocks her pants off—but she rolls with it and eventually starts seeing the members as her family. What I really liked about Faye is that while she blended Dex’s lifestyle into her own, she stayed true to herself.

I’ll admit it, as rough as tumble as he is, I kind of have a book boyfriend crush on Dex. He’s dangerous yet charming and willing to do anything to protect what’s his. While he often pushed Faye to her limit, he was always there for her and made sure she and their child was safe.

Although he did have his questionable moments, like when he fails to mention the condom broke (I mean, seriously, who does that?) but in the end, I found him extremely likable.

Dex and Faye had amazing chemistry. I think its foundation started in the fact that Dex was Faye’s forbidden fruit and only grew stronger as the book progressed. Another added bonus was the fact that Faye was not afraid to go up against Dex and that added to sexual tension in the book.

As this was the first book in the series, I’m really glad that the members of the Wind Dragons were introduced in this book. I really got an amazing sense of who these dangerous men were and the world that they lived in and it really got me hooked on the series.

While this is labeled as a NA read, it didn’t have that NA feel to it. I thought that Faye was very mature for her age and handled what she was thrown into so much better than what I would have. Honestly, if I had seen some of the things Faye encountered, I probably would have been hiding under a table.

Overall, I loved this book. It was dangerous, thrilling, and completely addicting. I really wanted to give it a 5-Cup rating, but I felt as though something was missing because the book told from Faye’s POV. Although I got a sense of who Dex was, I felt like the book would have felt more complete if I would have been able to see things from his POV.

  1. You're the third person I've seen this month praise this book so highly! Arg, it sounds so sexy.LOL. I like that Fayes not some pushover when it comes to Dex and she's smart enough to go for what she wants, even though it clashes with her families 'ideals' possibly. Great review:D
