New To Me Tuesday

I’ve been shopping like a loon lately under the guise of redecorating. My *intentions* were to go forth and purchase items to do a complete bedroom overhaul now that my new closet is finally finished. But, good old Robbie Burns once said, ‘The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. (Okay, he actually wrote it in Lowland Scots, ‘the best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft agley, but you get the concept).

And awry they went.

It really wasn’t my fault. The powers that be were clearly colluding against me by placing Home Goods, T.J. Maxx, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond in between, not one, but two bookstores. My intentions to purchase things for my bedroom redo were doomed the moment I pulled into the shopping mall and spotted the bookshops.

While I did purchase a few items for my bedroom, I purchased not one but four bags of books. I guess my bookshelf got a major redo. While most the books were on my ‘to be purchased list’, I did manage to snag two books from authors that were newbies to me.

So, here is my New To Me Tuesday finds:

The House On Blackberry Hill by Donna Alward
Book 1 in the Jewell Cove Series
St. Martin’s Paperbacks, 978-1-250-04516-4, Mass-Market, $7.99

When a young woman inherits a rundown mansion, the last thing she expects to find is the key to her heart…

Abby Foster is a fish out of water in the Maine coastal town of Jewell Cove. The crumbling Foster estate, left to her by a relative she never even knew, has everyone’s eyes on her—an eerie reminder of the long-buried family secrets that have haunted her…forever. Single, stunning, and sometimes too strong-willed for her own good, Abby’s plan is to sell the house and hightail it back to Nova Scotia. But another part of her is intrigued by the idea of starting over somewhere new—and finally learning the truth about her heritage.

The House On Blackberry Hill

Enter Tom Arseneault. The best contractor in Jewell Cove, Tom is determined to restore the beauty and prestige of the Foster mansion—and maybe even work his charms on its beautiful new heir. The attraction between him and Abby is undeniable, and the more time Tom spends on the house the more he wants to be in it with her. But Abby’s not sure she can trust him—or anyone in Jewell Cove who seems to know more about her family history than she does. Home: Is it really where the heart is after all?

Come Home To Me by Brenda Novak
Book 6 in the Whiskey Creek Series
Harlequin MIRA, 978-0-7783-1591-9, Mass Market, $7.99

The secrets that made you leave home can also bring you back…
When Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her little boy after two years away, she has completely changed her life. She’s made peace with her past and overcome the negative behavior that resulted from her difficult childhood. Now she’s back in the small town that was the closest thing to “home” she ever knew. The town where she can be with the sister who is her only family.

There’s just one catch. Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek, at least until he moves to Placerville to open a branch of the Amos brothers’ auto body shop. And no matter how hard she’s tried, Presley hasn’t been able to get over him. Seeing him again makes the longing so much worse.  But she hopes she can get through the next few months, because she can’t fall back into his arms…or his bed. She’s come too far to backslide now. And there’s a secret she’s been guarding—a secret she’ll do anything to protect.

Tea: Vintage Tea Works Black Tea Merlot
Inspired by Merlot, the tea is both velvety and robust. A nice black tea with hints of licorice, black currant, plums, and violets, this would be the perfect tea to for those who do not drink or want a Merlot taste without the alcohol.
