Tropical World: A Coloring Book Adventure by Millie Marotta

Lose yourself in a riot of beauty, coloring in, and mindful drawing. Millie Marotta's intricately designed tropical world beckons would-be artists to enter and make their mark. Add bright and brilliant colors to exotic blooms or a parrot's feathers. Complete a rainforest scene, add fine lines to palm trees, create new patterns, or use your creativity to personalize the illustrations. It's a wonderful way to fire up your imagination and relieve stress.

I’ve always enjoyed coloring so when I received this lovely little coloring book as a gift, I was over the moon. I find coloring to be very relaxing. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a long day. I’ll pop in a movie—or turn on an audiobook—and spend an hour or so coloring.

I really loved the images in this book. Each image is highly detailed and printed on nice smooth paper. Occasionally, you’ll find a few prompts printed above or below the drawing and the book also includes free spaces where—if you’re feeling extra crafty—you can draw your own design.

So far, I’ve used both gel pens and colored pencils. Both medias work brilliantly, although if you do use gel pens, allow the ink to dry before closing the book as they do have a tendency to smear.

The only downfall that I’ve seen with this coloring book is that it’s printed double-sided. I like using markers and watercolors, which I can’t do because they will bleed through to the other image.

Overall, this is a really enjoyable coloring book. Smooth, crisp pages and finely detailed images make for an enjoyable hour of coloring.
